specialty areas:
I treat adults, teens, couples, and families. I typically work with clients age 10 and up but will see younger children on a case-by-case basis. I have experience with a wide range of issues, but specialize in the following:
-
I've spent years working with teens across a wide range of settings and backgrounds. I'm incredibly passionate about this phase of life and about being an advocate for teens, who are so often stereotyped and misunderstood. I know how to connect with young people—even the ones who walk in the door not wanting to be there. Building trust with a resistant teen is one of my favorite parts of this work, and it's an area where I have a lot of experience.
I help teens navigate the everyday challenges that can feel anything but everyday when you're in the middle of them: self-esteem, friendship and social dynamics, and the inevitable friction that comes with growing more independent from parents.
I also specialize in the major transitions of young adulthood—choosing a college, moving from high school to college, college to grad school, or grad school into the working world. These shifts bring real anxiety and identity questions, and I love helping young people move through them with more clarity and confidence.
-
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat anxiety—the gold-standard, evidence-based approach for shifting unhelpful thought patterns. CBT is highly effective at helping clients recognize when they've slipped into what I call a "thought spiral," and, more importantly, how to interrupt it.
My approach to anxiety treatment is skill-focused. In my experience, clients don't just want to talk about feeling anxious—they want concrete tools they can actually use in the moment. So that's what we build together: practical, tangible skills for managing anxiety in real time, not just insight into where it comes from. Although we do explore that as well.

I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD, to help clients interrupt the intrusive thought/compulsion loop and reduce the intensity of obsessions over time.
A core part of this work is helping clients understand that their obsessive thoughts mean nothing about who they are or what they want. I help clients separate themselves from these unwanted thoughts, rather than being defined or controlled by them.
I also have extensive experience working with "Pure O" OCD, where compulsions are primarily mental rather than physical—things like mental checking, seeking reassurance, replaying past experiences or conversations, and overthinking interactions with others. Because these compulsions are less visible, Pure O often goes unrecognized, and I'm well-versed in identifying and treating it.
I have experience treating a range of OCD themes, including:
Harm OCD
Sexual thought OCD
Driving OCD
Contamination OCD
"Just right" OCD

I've been working with the LGBTQ+ community for 20 years. I'm a proud ally and a fierce advocate for LGBTQ+ issues and visibility. I offer LGBTQ+ clients a safe, affirming space to process their feelings and get support. I believe LGBTQ+ voices are valuable and essential in our communities.
I also believe women are the backbone of society. We are the caretakers, the planners, the rememberers of the important and the little things, the carriers of the mental load. We are moms, wives, and business owners. We're navigating our own struggles while carrying our households, our friendships, and the worries of those we love. We are walking through infertility, illness, and work stress, all while nurturing relationships, doing the meal planning, and being the cheerleaders. Women hold so much, and so often put themselves last.
I want women to know that I see them, and all the plates they keep spinning for everyone in their lives. I help them manage the emotions that come with these beautiful, complex lives we lead—and find a way to pour back into themselves.

I have extensive experience working with severe trauma, beginning with my work in foster care, where I supported severely abused and neglected teens. Since then, I've worked with adults who have experienced a wide range of traumatic experiences.
Trauma isn't always a single event. Some of the most impactful trauma is chronic, or what I call "little t" trauma—things like growing up in an unstable home, living with chronic illness, or navigating infertility. These experiences deserve just as much care and attention as more overt, single-incident trauma.
I use Trauma-Focused CBT to help clients reprocess traumatic memories and explore the thoughts and beliefs about themselves that are tied to their trauma history.

I have supported many kids living through their parents' separation. Divorce is always messy, but even more so when children are involved. I help families navigate this in a way that prioritizes what's healthiest for the kids, and I offer a safe space for children to process the complex emotions that come with this situation.
I also have a great deal of experience helping adults without children navigate separation and divorce.
Having been raised in a blended family myself, I understand firsthand the unique dynamics at play in these situations. I love supporting families as they navigate blending different households, rules, and expectations.
I've also had the privilege of walking alongside families through adoption and post-adoption, both in my non-profit work in foster care and in private practice. Adoption is beautiful, but it's also a major upheaval and life change for everyone involved. I support both adults and kids as they navigate the complexities of this journey.

We spend roughly a third of our waking lives at work, and our work environment can have a major impact on our mental health. I help clients navigate job changes, hard conversations around promotions or raises, unhealthy workplace dynamics, and the challenges that come with leadership roles.
Often, people find themselves in leadership positions and struggle with confidence in the role, the dynamics of managing other people, or learning new responsibilities and expectations. I help clients build assertiveness, active listening, and other leadership skills needed to navigate the full range of workplace and career challenges.

Drawing on years of clinical work with families and my own parenting journey, I help parents move beyond punishment-based approaches toward connection-driven parenting. In a non-judgmental space, I help overwhelmed parents manage their reactions, communicate more effectively, and build stronger relationships with their children. The result: kids who feel seen, heard, and valued — and parents with more influence and less conflict. Read more about my parent coaching work here!
